Dan may be done the site, but thanks to my, um, procrastinatory nature, I still have several projects that need to be completed. Today I tackled a few of them, head-on, and unflinchingly. Not unlike Rocky.
First off was Mr. shark fin.
I bought the bondo automotive body filler, and, on impulse, spray-on chrome finish. I figure if we can’t color match it, chrome might be a nice second choice. And so I headed home, set up outside with music and beverage. (I’ve developed a very unfortunate taste for those new rockstar mocha flavored beverages, something that will probably be out of our price range for the next month or so . . . ) So here’s the thing about bondo. It dries quick. Especially in the sun. The instructions said to apply and then wait thirty minutes, but it was insanely hard after about two minutes. If I had waited thirty, there is no way I could have sanded it. Pffff. Instructions. This proves once again that I am smarter than engineers. So I did like eight applications of bondo, the large container I bought did not last as long as I’d hoped. So then I sprayed the sucker chrome just for fun. Also it was to help me see where I needed to apply more bondo. Tomorrow.
Then it was mascot work.
The Canadian albino giraffe is, at this point, pretty much regular giraffe colors. We left the little guy in a ice cream bucket full of bleach for a bit, and it didn’t even touch his color. At least he’s sanitized now. Anyway, my mom says it’s cause he’s 100% polyester. Stupid giraffe. Now I have to figure out a different way to recolor him. Then I worked on using my busking gear more effectively for a bit. I got some really nice sounds from it. I’ve been so busy doing things that aren’t playing guitar, that my fingers hurt when I did. I was like, “Whoa.”
My to-do list still taunts me. I still have two full days. Do I look worried?
